THE Sports and Recreation Commission acting director general Joseph Muchechetere will lead a delegation of sports personalities and administrators that will take part in the third edition of the Sports Leadersa�� Institute of Zimbabwe (SLIZ) sports management winter camp scheduled for Masvingo this weekend.
A total of 150 people have confirmed participation in the winter camp at Great Zimbabwe, according to SLIZ director Russell Mhiribidi.
a�?Dr Devota Marwa from Tanzanian and the Kenyan delegation led by Edward Muema Munyuti are already in the country. The Zambian delegation is expected on Friday morning.
a�?From a planning point of view we are ready to host the winter camp which will have 150 participants from sports administrators to representatives of football and athletics teams as well as schools, colleges and universities.
a�?Government will be represented by the SRC acting director Joseph Muchechetere,a�? said Mhiribidi.
The three-day workshop is a platform where administrators can brainstorm solutions to the challenges being faced in sports codes across the board.
A Kenyatta University lecturer and committee member of the African Sport Management Association Munyuti together with Musunza Sombwa from the Olympic Youth Development Centre in Zambia are some of the key note speakers.
Marwa from Tanzaniaa��s University of Dar es Salaam who will present a paper on sports marketing.
The SLIZ is a body whose mission is to facilitate and provide a conducive environment for optimum growth and advancement of the nationa��s sports leaders with emphasis on capacity building and professional development in line with existing global trends.
