THE principal of a local school, Tutorial Home, says the local education standards in schools match those in the United Kingdom.

Tutorial Home want to lure Zimbabweans in the UK to send their children back home to study at the school, which is based in Harare.

The school took part at the UK-Zimbabwe Expo was organised by Zimbabweans in Diaspora Organisation (ZIDO) and Vaka Ekhaya at the Bethel Convention Centre in Birmingham.

The Expo was attended by senior Government officials and there were calls for those in the Diaspora to invest back home.

Presenters outlined various sectors ripe for investment by the Diaspora, including real estate, agriculture, manufacturing and tourism.

Tutorial Home principal, Tafadzwa Mushore, said their vision is to tap into the UK market.

“Our strategy is to penetrate the UK market and we went to the event and pitched the idea to the parents who live there.

“The standards of school in the UK match ours and we are trying to attract people in the UK to come and attend boarding school in Harare, they will just be coming back to the UK for a holiday.

“We are licenced with Cambridge and the ratio of teacher to student is very low,” he said.

Mushore added:

“We have realised that there is a huge number of Zimbabweans in the UK, so we are saying the parents can bring their children back home.

“They need to invest back home, which is also cheaper.

“We also considered behavioural issues where back home, children are groomed into their culture.

“The level of education in Harare is the same as that in the UK.

“Our school caters for children with challenges of learning difficulties, disabilities, like autism, and all levels of challenges.

“It has a boarding school and provides boarding facilities.”

The school was established in 2009 as a Junior and Senior Cambridge International School in Borrowdale.
