singers and three performing artistes will go head to head in the battle of supremacy.
Talented singers Xolani from Bulawayo, Brian from Chivhu, Amanda as well as Rutendo and Tsitsi from Harare will be competing for a place in the top three.
Interestingly, Tsitsi’s father Cleopas Manyowa took part in the first edition of Star Brite in the 1980s. Back then, Cleopas and his brothers were part of a country music group.
On the non-singing category there is going to be tight competition between dance groups, Hard Mashona Type and Magesh as well as poets Nomore Dovi from Harare and Promise Mudavanhu from Masvingo.
Tonight those who will attend the show will be treated to some magical moments in the opening act where                     all the contestants will perform their original compositions.
From the choreography to stage performances to the music, it will feel a lot like a homecoming show.
Barney Mpariwa of Events R Us, who are putting the show together, said he was happy with the results.
“I think it has been a long journey and what was amazing about the show was that any one of the finalists would have made it into the finals — so that means the selection and judging was good.
“The only problem was sponsorship. We could have done more if more sponsors had come on board,” Mpariwa said.
He, however, urged fans to come and see what Zimbabwe has in store.
“We have invited a lot of guests although fans are welcome to come and pay their way to the show. It is going to be a great show, I promise you that,” he said.
Star Brite is Zimbabwe’s oldest talent search show, which was popular in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The show airs on ZBCTV every Saturday on prime time                 slot.
It is not only for those who are talented in song and dance but also those who are not so gifted to get their 15-minutes of fame. After almost two decades on the sidelines, the talent search made a huge splash this year under the theme: “Star Brite: It’s Your Time to Shine”.
Many will remember Star Brite for unearthing the talents of Tendai “Sasa Wasasa” Chadarikire, who danced his way into the limelight when he won the contest back in 1992 and Prudence Katomeni-Mbofana among others.
Hate or love it, Star Brite is a true Zimbabwean production with laugh-out-loud moments as the series takes you through the successes, misses, near-misses and absurd moments, all for your enjoyment.
