A 41-year-old man has been arrested in Chitungwiza for raping the daughter of his wife. Wiseman Matemera was alleged to have followed the Form 1 student, 13, into her bedroom after she returned from school.
She was naked when he entered her bedroom. He dragged her onto the bed where he raped her once with protection.
The child fled from home and went to stay with her father in St Mary’s.
The child disclosed the rape to her mother when she followed her to check why she had moved in to stay with her father.
This led to the arrest of Wiseman.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the arrest. “Police arrested a Chitungwiza man for raping a minor child,” said Insp Chakanza.
“Circumstances are that the accused person is the complainant’s step father.
“On an unknown date, sometime in January at around 1500 hours, the complainant arrived home from school.
“She found out that her mother was not around. The complainant entered her bedroom to change her school uniform.
“The accused entered the complainant’s bedroom, found her naked and raped her with protection. After the act, the accused person threatened to kill the complainant if she disclosed the rape to anyone.
“The complainant was escorted to Chitungwiza Central Hospital for medical examination,” said Insp Chakanza.
