A 21-year-old man from Saursetown in Bulawayo allegedly slapped his stepdad before stabbing him twice, accusing him of abusing his mother.
Denzel Cement (21) fumed after his stepdad Obert Cement (44) threatened to beat up his mother. At the height of the altercation, Denzel’s mother bolted out of the house threatening to report him to the police. But her son blocked her before calming her down.
The stepdad had demanded to know who was calling the son’s mother on the cellphone. After that he confronted his stepdad accusing him of abusing his mother and an argument ensued between Denzel and his stepdad.
While they were exchanging harsh words it is alleged that in a fit of anger, Denzel pushed his stepdad against the TV stand before grabbing him by the throat and slapping him several times.
As if that was not enough, Denzel reached for a kitchen knife and allegedly stabbed his stepdad twice. Obert bled and tumbled to the ground.
A neighbour rushed to the scene and swiftly reported the incident to the police leading to the arrest of Denzel. He appeared in court before Bulawayo magistrate Evia Matura facing an assault charge.
He was not asked to plead. He was remanded in custody to 22 July.
