THE 70-year-old sex craze Nyazura grandmother who abused her 10-year-old grandson, infecting him with a sexual transmitted disease in the process had her age to thank after she was sentenced to a wholly suspended five-year jail term.The grandmother, Mary Macheme of Macheme Village under Chief Makoni who at the beginning of the trial had entered a plea of not guilty, later during the course of the trial became remorseful and admitted to the offence. She even asked regional magistrate, Mr Livingstone Chipadza to sentence her even before the conclusion of the trial.
In passing sentence, Mr Chipadza said sending the old woman to jail would not be proper because of her advanced age. He said she would not survive the rigorous prison life.
He further said in the likely event that she dies in prison havoc would be the order of the day in the family with other siblings being at loggerheads with the father of the abused boy. The abused boy told the court that her grandmother on several occasions would force him to be intimate with her as she would refer him as her husband.
The father of the abused boy also testified and told the court that he wanted charges against his mother withdrawn.
A medical affidavit produced in court showed that the boy’s manhood was swollen, had blisters and pimples. He was also having difficulties in urinating.
