A CAR, which was stolen seven months ago, was recovered on Friday after it was spotted in the Harare Central Business District while being driven by someone who had bought it at an auction.

A Honda CRV, which belongs to Morgan Mugadzaweta, was spotted in the Harare CBD while being driven by one Haggney Ndlovu.

Haggney had bought the vehicle at BG Auctions, in Msasa, Harare, on September 30.

The case was taken to the police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Vehicle Theft Squad (VTS).

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case.

“Police are investigating a fraud case involving a stolen vehicle at an auction company in Msasa.

“An Agreement of Sale was issued to the duo, however, they were not given the registration book of the said motor vehicle as the auction company told them to come collect it the following day.

“A follow-up was made the next day but to no avail,” said Insp Chakanza.
