Stray lion still on the loose Lion still at large – v

lionTHE Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority dispatched a team of armed officers to Burnside and Waterford suburbs following reports that the stray lion suspected to be roaming Bulawayo suburbs, had been spotted at Burnside Shopping Centre yesterday.
Zimparks spokesperson Ms Caroline Washaya-Moyo last night said armed officers from the Problem Animal Control Unit descended on Burnside yesterday afternoon after receiving a call from members of the public who claimed to have spotted the lion at the shopping centre.

“We got a call from a member of the public claiming that the lion had been seen at Burnside Shopping Centre on Saturday (yesterday) and our team from the Problem Animal Control Unit quickly went into the area, but the call turned out to be a hoax.

“The lion is still at large and we have since dispatched armed officers to Burnside and Waterford areas in an effort to capture it,” she said.

Mrs Washaya-Moyo said the armed officers would remain patrolling the area until the animal was captured.She urged members of the public to avoid moving around at night and avoid dark spots.Members of the public with information on the whereabouts of the stray predator are encouraged to contact the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority on 0713 010 328.
