WHAT was supposed to be a quiet spiritual journey turned into a nightmare for a 15-year-old Cowdray Park boy, who was robbed, beaten, and stripped near Ngozi Mine Bridge by a gang of thugs in a black Honda Fit.
The chilling incident happened on 16 May 2025 around 4:20PM, as the teen made his way to the mountain for prayers.
“They pretended to be lost and asked for directions to Richmond,” the shaken teen told police. “As I got closer to the car, one of them just hit me in the stomach with a knobkerrie. I didn’t even see it coming.”
According to police, the gang of four unknown suspects pounced, demanding the boy undress and hand over his belongings.
The robbers stripped the teen of his black jeans, grey jersey, blue half jersey, black Adidas sneakers, and his Itel P55 cellphone. The total value of stolen items is pegged at US$90, but the trauma? Priceless.
Bulawayo police confirmed the report and warned the public to avoid isolated routes.
“We strongly urge people to avoid secluded paths, especially during late hours,” said Inspector Nomalanga Msebele the provincial spokesperson. “These criminals target vulnerable individuals. Anyone with information should come forward immediately.”
The attackers are still at large and nothing has been recovered. From prayer to predator – Cowdray Park’s quiet corners are no longer safe!
