SUMMER GLOVIN

TYSON FURY is set for another warm-up fight before his long-awaited Battle of Britain showdown with Anthony Joshua, Frank Warren has revealed.

The Gypsy King is rumoured to return in August, as plans continue to build towards an expected November super-fight with AJ.

Fury recently fuelled speculation by posting a cryptic clip teasing “big news” while wearing a Mexico international football shirt, leading fans to suggest AJ’s old foe Andy Ruiz Jr could be his next opponent.

But his promoter Warren has shut down those rumours.

Speaking exclusively to SunSport, Warren said Fury definitely wants another fight before Joshua – but insisted it will not be against Ruiz.

Warren said: “Warren said: “He will fight, he wants to fight – he’s made that very clear. He doesn’t want to be back in the ring by November, which I think will be a gap of about seven or eight months.

“He wants to fight, he doesn’t want to be rusty again and he wants to get in there, but it won’t be against Andy Ruiz.”

When asked how likely it was Fury returns before facing Joshua, Warren added: “I think there’s a very, very good chance.”

A rumoured August return would offer Fury the chance to sharpen his tools for the second time this year, following his points victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov in April.

This potential warm-up would ensure he is at his peak before finally stepping into the ring for the blockbuster showdown with Joshua this winter

Joshua is also set for a comeback bout of his own, with the heavyweight scheduled to return on 25 July against the unbeaten Kristian Prenga in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

AJ is looking to rebuild ahead of the biggest fight of his career as he continues to recover from the tragic loss of two close friends and team members, Sina Ghami and Kevin ‘Latz’ Ayodele, in December 2025.

Fury vs Joshua remains boxing‘s biggest draw, and Warren is confident an announcement for Fury is imminent as both men look set to take tune-up bouts before their massive winter collision – watch this space – Sun.
