THE City of Harare has noted with great concern the continued invasion of council and state land by organised land barons and home seekers.
The land barons are duping people of their hard earned money by illegally allocating them State and or Council land under the false impression that their illegality will be regularised by Council.
Residents are advised as follows:
1. The City of Harare has finalised its verification process on illegal invasions of State, Council and Private Land. A report on the same will be published once adopted by Council.
2. Enforcement will be conducted soon, in strict adherence to prevailing Government and Council Policies on land management and due process of law and provisions of Urban State Land Management Policy and Regional, Town and Country Planning Act.
3. Residents are advised to refrain from engaging in further illegal activities including the acquisition of land from unauthorised individuals, illegal construction of houses without approved building plans, illegal occupation of Council or State land.
4. The City has also noted with concern the continued illegal developments on Municipal, State land and private land in Warren Park, Mabvuku-Tafara, Budiriro and other areas. The City will name and shame the perpetrators.
5. The City of Harare advises members of the public, who might have been duped by land barons, to report to the Police and also to report to the District Office of any illegal land invasion and development.
6. Members of the Public are advised to seek clarity on land management, ownership and the legality of any form of development from the District Office or from the office of the Director of Urban Planning Services at Cleveland House.
