Surprise visit backfires on small house

A SURPRISE visit to her married boyfriend’s house terribly backfired for a Mutare woman after she was bashed by a man claiming that she wanted to ruin his marriage.

Tatenda Muriwo (27) of ZIMTA Park high-density suburb and a father of two received a surprise visit from his girlfriend, Tatenda Karetsu, a move that did not go down well with him.

Muriwo appeared in court last Friday facing assault charges.

It was the State’s case that on October 28, Karetsu sneaked into Muriwo’s house after she had opened it with keys she had acquired without her boyfriend’s knowledge.

Karetsu was assaulted and suffered serious injuries after being struck with a brick on the leg. However, she could not produce a medical report as she had failed to seek medical attention soon after the incident.

When Muriwo was asked why he had assaulted Karetsu by the presiding magistrate, Mr Langton Mukwengi, he said he was angered by Karetsu for coming to his residence unannounced.

“I was angered by the fact that she just came to my place without any invitation.

“To make it worse I found her sitting comfortably in my house. She had keys to my house without my knowledge.

“Her actions can end my marriage. She is my girlfriend and she should know that I am a married man. Our affair is a secret which should not find its way into my house,” said Muriwo.

Muriwo was fined $200 and two months were wholly suspended on condition that he did not commit a similar offence in the next five years.
