POLICE have arrested several suspects linked to cases of armed robbery, theft and fraud that occurred in Harare, Gweru, Bulawayo and Mutare between July 11, 2023 and July 21, 2025.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrests, which were made between July 24 and 26 2025.
“On 25 July, detectives from CID Homicide arrested Mtandazo Ndlovu (40), Amard Ncube alias Jah (43), and Solomon Ngwenya (36), leading to the recovery of a Vizor pistol with a magazine containing three live rounds, 50 x 0.38mm live rounds, 15 live rounds for a Vizor pistol, US$3 100 cash, and two 48-volt lithium batteries,” said Commissioner Naythi.
He said the suspects are being linked to seven armed robbery cases, including one that occurred in Harare on June 16 2025 where US$500 000 was stolen.
“Another case took place at a service station along Khami Road in Bulawayo on 21 July 2025 where US$31 265, ZAR3 720 and a Toyota Runx (registration number AFD 9160) were stolen. The third case was recorded in Magwegwe, Bulawayo on 29 April 2025 where ZAR83 000 and a cellphone were stolen,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
He said in Harare, police arrested Fortune Banda (34), Promise Tshuma (30), Vincent Tembedza alias Dollar (27) and Queensley Ncube (25) for allegedly conspiring to commit an armed robbery at a mine in Beatrice on July 26 2025.
Commissioner Nyathi said police recovered a 9mm Deryia pistol and two magazines — one loaded with four rounds and the other with 15 rounds.
He said on July 24 2025, Marshal Munashe Munyuru (38) was arrested in Mutare for theft of three motor vehicles in South Africa.
“The arrest led to the recovery of a Toyota Fortuner with registration number AFY 3564, a Mercedes Benz, and a Ford Ranger Raptor. Investigations revealed that the Toyota Fortuner was stolen on 11 July 2023, the Ford Ranger
Raptor on 15 November 2023, and the Mercedes Benz on 11 October 2024,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
He said police appreciate members of the public for providing information that led to the arrests and encouraged them to continue doing so.
