TOP female boxer Kudakwashe “Take Money” Chiwandire has been handed another opportunity to climb back to the top after getting a shot at the vacant WBC Africa title.
The former WBC interim champion had been wandering around since losing her bid to win the WBC gold belt.
She went down to Yamileth Mercado in Mexico two years ago.
A bout was organised for her during the Independence Boxing tournament held in Harare last April.
Her opponent, Patience Masitara, however, didn’t emerge from the dressing room for the fight and Chiwandire claimed victory by walk-over.
Now, Chiwandire has been offered the platform to re-launch her way up again with the WBC Africa showdown in September.
She is scheduled to face-off against Ugandan opponent Salimat Tibesigwa of Uganda (11-4-0).
But, before Chiwandire can host the Ugandan, she will have two preparatory bouts including against Malawian Tamari Mtabalika this Saturday at Baradzanwa Village.
Her trainer and manager Clyde Musonda yesterday said:
“She was injured and it took a great deal of time for her to recover.
“It wasn’t easy at all. But we are happy she is back on her feet.”
