AFRO-POP musician Takura has revealed he spent five weeks in rehabilitation due to mental health challenges.
The mental battles forced him to announce, on two occasions, that he was quitting music.
He spoke about his ordeal on Instagram.
Efforts to engage him were not fruitful.
“Over the past few years, I have not been the best person in this country.
“A friend of mine once said we are given these gifts to uplift others and l realised I was being selfish, so the decision to quit was wrong.
“I did get help and did rehab for 5 weeks
“I am so sorry, I’m coming here to clear a few things.”
The MaObama hitmaker said apart from mental health issues, he failed to handle matters around fame and relationships
“I had to go to rehab, the last time I came out publicly I was in a bad space and I had destroyed good relationships that I had created over the years.
“I was more concerned with blowing up than growing up.
“The last time l made a video like this, it was a cry for help.
“Not once did I take accountability.”
Takura added:
“I struggled mentally, because of that I hurt my friend, I fought with promoters and people that gave me jobs.
“I fought with my friends.”
