FORMER Zimbabwe Under-20 coach Jairos Taperaas marriage with Polokwane-based National First Division outfit Black Leopards has collapsed just five months into a three year contract.
The former Tongogara defender tendered his resignation letter on Monday morning a day after a shock 2-3 home defeat at the hands of Stellenbosch at Thohoyandou which saw home fans throw bottles and stones at him.
Senior club officials had to seek police cover to leave the stadium as fans bayed for Taperaas blood something that left him feeling insecure.
Club chief executive officer, Kenneth Makhanya confirmed Taperaas departure.
a?Black Leopards and Jairos Tapera have parted ways amicably today (Monday). We have learnt something from him and hopefully he has learnt something from us. As Black Leopards we would like to thank him for his contribution to the Leopards family and wish him well in future appointments,a? said Makhanya.
Club boss David Thidiela said he was shocked to hear that Tapera had tendered his resignation letter.
Tapera described the decision as amicable.
a?We just had to be amicable about this decision. In life we meet to part and part to meet. This is what football is all about,a? said Tapera.
He had presided over 10 league matches, winning three, drawing four and losing three in his run as manager, including 1-2 defeat to AmaZulu a where Joey Antipas thwarted a possible sacking with a 2-0 win over Mbombela after a string of four straight defeats.
Tapera leaves Polokwane just a couple of days after former Warriors coach, Shepherd Murape arrived at neighbours Magesi FC.
Magesi FC appointed Murape as their new coach after it was reported last week that Jackie Ledwaba would not continue at the helm.
a?The club management has effectively appointed Shepherd Murape as its head coach. He will start working with the team as from tomorrow,a? read a statement on the clubas official twitter account.
Ledwabaas 67-year-old replacement spent a brief spell in charge of Black Leopards almost a decade ago.
Magesi, having stepped up from the ABC Motsepe League, are finding it tough going in South Africaas second tier and are currently at the bottom of the log standings.
