INJURED FC Platinum duo of Charles Sibanda and Winston Mhango, who survived a near fatal car accident last month started doing light training on Tuesday.
The accident occurred when the two players were travelling from Zvishavane to Bulawayo soon after their clubas Chibuku Super Cup semi-final tie against Harare City at Mandava Stadium. Sibanda was one of the scorers in the 3-0 win as FC Platinum progressed to the final of the Chibuku Super Cup.
Following the accident, the former lost two front teeth and he had a cut on his mouth. The latter had a deep cut on his left sheen. The pair had been given a lift by a friend and the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a head-on collision leading to the friend losing control.
An FC Platinum bar supervisor who was travelling with the players died.
a?They both started doing light training today after they removed their stitches. However, they will not be available for our Chibuku Cup final against Ngezi Platinum. We are a club that has a lot of depth and we value the experience that Mhango and Sibanda have. Their coming back is a massive boost,a? said FC Platinum media liaison officer Chido Chizondo.
They could make it for the match against Bosso.
a?We are hoping they will make it for our league match against Highlanders. However, they are not likely to play a full match,a? added Chizondo.
Platinum, who are also eyeing the league title, sit on position two on the league table with 55 points, two behind table toppers CAPS United.
The platinum miners will play host to bruised Bosso at Mandava Stadium in a tricky Week 29 fixture.
With Bulawayo giants Highlanders losing to relegation-threatened Tsholotsho, Makepekepe have a two-point cushion over second-placed FC Platinum, who battled to a 2-0 win over Chapungu in Gweru, with two matches to go.
The Green Machine could be crowned champions in the next round of fixtures with a win over Ngezi Platinum if their nearest rivals FC Platinum and Highlanders facing each other play out a draw.
