TEAM Zimbabwe have so far scooped 13 medals — six gold, four silver and three bronze — at the on-going 9th Southern Africa Regional Police Chiefs Co-operation Organisations Games
They are battling it out with 12 other Sadc police teams in seven sporting disciplines — athletics, darts, chess, soccer, netball, volleyball and tennis.
The Games are being held under the theme: Regional Policing Through Sports.
Last week the Sarpcco Games grand opening soccer game between Zimbabwe and Swaziland was cancelled due to flood light failure at Mavuso Sports Centre.
During the first 36 minutes of the game Swaziland lead 2-0.
However, the match was replayed on Sunday night at the sports centre and Zimbabwe managed to beat the host team 2-0.
On Saturday night, the Zimbabwe volleyball men’s team beat Swaziland 3-0.
Team Zimbabwe continue to dominate in other sporting events such as athletics, darts and chess.
In an interview over the weekend, Deputy Commissioner General Levy Sibanda said the Games were going on very well and Zimbabwe have a strong team.
“The team is participating very well and we’re happy with their performance. I’m confident that we’ll win the trophy again for the fourth time,” he said.
The Games, which started on July 22, are scheduled to end on August 2.
Nearly 200 officers from the Zimbabwe Republic Police are participating at these Games which are meant to unite officers in the region and to create a platform for them to interact and exchange notes in policing through sports.

In 2013, Zimbabwe won the Sarpcco Games for the third time in a row in Windhoek, Namibia.
Team Zimbabwe had won the other two editions of the games in Malawi and DRC in 2009 and 2011 respectively.
They won 17 gold, 27 silver and 16 bronze medals and accumulated 182 points during the games in Namibia.
