Teen rapist in court

A 17-YEAR-OLD boy, who is being accused of raping a minor, has been remanded into his mother’s custody.

He appeared before Harare magistrate Sandra Mupindu.

He will be back in court on October 31 for trial commencement.

Allegations are that the boy (name withheld), from Budiriro, is alleged to have raped a seven-year-old girl (name withheld).

Circumstances are that on May 12, this year, the complainant was sent by her mother to collect some money from her mother’s boyfriend.

The court heard that the mother’s boyfriend left the complainant, and the accused, at his home.

He said he wanted to personally hand over the money to his lover.

The court heard that the accused then encouraged the complainant to stay for the night and leave in the morning.

The complainant then spent the night at the accused person’s house where she was allegedly raped.
