A Harare man took his landlord to court for allegedly insulting and harassing him.
Raymond Nyakupinda applied for a protection order against his landlord, Muyambiri Dube, at the Harare Civil Court yesterday. Raymond said his landlord had been harassing him since he gave him a notice ending on January, 31.
“I paid his rentals in full, but he switched off the electricity and water. He broke windows of the house I am staying in and often comes banging on the doors. He also takes photos of me and threatens to post them in several groups.”
In response Dube did not oppose the application, but claimed the application was based on false accusations.
“I did not switch off the electricity, but it will be a national power cut. We use a borehole and I only switch it off when we run out of electricity. I did not break the windows or bang the doors, it was my wife. When the police told her to stop, she complied,” said Dube.
However, presiding magistrate Tamara Chibindi granted the application and ordered Dube not to insult, harass or threaten Raymond.
