ZIMBABWE Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) outfit, Tenax CS FC is maintaining its momentum in pursuit of promotion to return to the country’s top-flight premiership league.
The revamped correctional services team has demonstrated determination and pedigree in achieving its objective, bolstered by the recent acquisition of talented players – Russel Kahiki, Lloyd Marange, Cain Matarimanja, and Chris Chiko – among others.
To date, the Blessing Madombi-coached side is hot on the heels of league leaders, FC Hunters – who appear to be experiencing internal turmoil following the departure of their coach, John Nyikadzino, to Southern Region side, Bulawayo Chiefs.
And coach Madombi is confident that they are on the right track.
“The promotion race is gaining momentum, with Hunters, Tenax, Buffaloes, and Masvingo United all vying for a spot in the premiership slot. As Tenax CS FC, we are delighted to be firmly in contention.
“It is a new team with fresh faces like Lloyd Marange, Panashe Jana, Russel Kahiki, Cain Matarimanja, and Chris Chiko. We have exceeded expectations,” he said. Recently, Madombi received the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Division One coach of the month award for May, while Buffaloes goalkeeper, Simon Nyama was named goalkeeper of the month.
“Receiving this award is a great honour. Football is a competitive sport, and every coach strives to be top. I am grateful to the technical team, players, team management, and ZPCS as a whole,” said Madombi.
“Tenax CS FC chairman, Stefani Masina said the club and its stakeholders are well aware of the task ahead and remain committed to achieving it.
“As Tenax CS FC, we have nearly accomplished our initial target of going 10 games unbeaten. This was our promise at the start of the season, our first step towards gaining promotion to the PSL next year. I would like to thank the entire Tenax CS FC team for achieving this as a united force. Our players are demonstrating remarkable determination. By the end of the season, we will reach the Promised Land,” he said.
