PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has implored Zanu-PF structures to be guided by the party’s values and ethos as they prepare their resolutions ahead of the 22nd Annual National People’s Conference.

The President stressed that the DNA of Zanu-PF as a people’s party must never be tampered with. He said this while addressing the 387th Session of the Politburo in Harare yesterday.

President Mnangagwa, who is the party’s First Secretary, commended the party’s provincial structures and districts for the manner in which they are consolidating their discussions in preparation for the upcoming conference to be held at Mutare Polytechnic College from October 13 to 18.

“I am pleased that the party machinery is demonstrating concerted re-focusing and recalibration, at all levels, to achieve the set-out decisions and objectives,” he said.

“As we do so, let us maintain the central ideas, correct line, as well as the revolutionary mass nature of our colossal party.

“The DNA of Zanu-PF, as a people’s party, must never be tampered with. Musangano wedu ndewe ruzhinji rweZimbabwe.”

President Mnangagwa said the Politburo meeting’s focus was on matters such as the state of preparedness for the 22nd National People’s Conference.

It will be held in Mutare, under the theme: “Attainment of Vision 2030 through Economic Empowerment and Value Addition.”

The President said he expects that the requisite preparations have been made by now to ensure a flawless conference.

He congratulated party leadership across the country’s 10 provinces for demonstrating commitment to the success of their programmes and activities.

“The seamless co-ordination of recent events attests to our party’s organisational strength, prowess and ability.

“This was evident at the launch of the Presidential Women’s League Empowerment Programme, Sanganai/ Hlanganani/ Kumbanayi World Tourism Expo and the recently held Munhumutapa Day commemorations,” said President Mnangagwa.

All three were resounding successes. The party leadership was encouraged to mobilise party members at the grassroots level to keep the wheels of the revolution moving.

“I urge us all to work harder, grow, align and strengthen our grassroots structures, as we accelerate progress towards the realisation of Vision 2030,” he stated.

President Mnangagwa, who turned 83 years old on Monday this week, expressed gratitude to the party and nation for extending congratulatory messages to him.

Today, the President will headline the Central Committee meeting at the Zanu-PF headquarters.
