Controversial Zim dancehall star Killer T left local promoters with egg on their faces by failing to honour a gig he had allegedly already been paid for.
The tout turned chanter was to perform at the squabble ridden up-market joint Cloud 9 on Friday night in Bulawayo, at a dancehall themed as the headline act.
One of the promoters of the gig who spoke to B-Metro anonymously, said dancehall chanter claimed to be in the dark yet his manager Brian a?DJ Bimmaa? Murukutira had been paid for the show.
a?We paid his manager a few weeks ago but Killer T only advised us a night before that he would not be performing on Friday. He claimed to have not seen the money and he referred us to his manager,a? said the promoter.
The promoters were however, not sure on what action to take after Killer Tas cancellation, as they had already lost money. ButA they were hesitant to press ahead with legal action.
Instead they held on to Killer Tas word that he would perform on a later date when he returns to the City of Kings.
a?He promised to perform at a later date but the problem is that our funders are asking when they will be refunded their monies that they poured into the gig. As things stand there is nothing that they made from their investment,a? he said.
The chanter confirmed that the deal was handled by his manager, before changing tune and placing the blame on the promoters.
a?Well I was not the one who was handling that deal. In fact, we ended up not going through with the deal. We had no written contract with those guys so I canat be blamed for not showing up,a? he said.
Killer Tas manager did not answer calls or reply to messages when he was contacted.
