Faith Moves Mountains with Pauline Matanda
“The Lord will give strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace.” — Psalm 29:11
I love the book of Psalms.
This entire chapter, Psalm 29, reveals the greatness and power of God through the imagery of a storm.
It describes the voice of the Lord as mighty — thundering over the waters, breaking cedars, shaking the wilderness and commanding all of creation. It paints a picture of a God who is sovereign, majestic and unmatched in power.
Yet, as the Psalm reaches its conclusion, it shifts from God’s power over creation to His personal care for His people. The same God who rules the storm turns with compassion to strengthen and bless those who belong to Him.
“The Lord will give strength to His people . . .”
This is a promise, not a possibility.
Life often presents challenges that drain our energy, weaken our resolve and test our faith.
At times, we feel overwhelmed by circumstances beyond our control — much like the storm described in this Psalm.
But in those moments, God does not leave us to rely on our own limited strength. Instead, He gives us His strength: strength to endure hardship, to persevere when we feel like giving up and to remain faithful even when the path is difficult. This strength is spiritual, emotional and sometimes even physical.
It is the sustaining power of God working within us, enabling us to stand firm.
After strength comes peace: “The Lord will bless His people with peace.”
Not just any peace, but divine peace that surpasses human understanding.
This peace is not dependent on perfect circumstances; it exists even in the midst of storms. While the world may be filled with noise, uncertainty and fear, God offers calm assurance to His people. It is the peace that settles the heart, quietens the mind and reassures the soul that God is still in control.
Just as Jesus calmed the storm with His voice, He speaks peace into our lives today.
There is a beautiful balance in this scripture: God gives strength to stand and peace to rest.
Strength equips us to face life’s battles, while peace guards our hearts against anxiety and fear. Without strength, we would collapse under pressure; without peace, we would be consumed by worry. In His wisdom, God provides both.Notice also the repetition: “The Lord . . . the Lord . . .”
The source of both strength and peace is not within ourselves or the world around us — it is in God alone. The One who commands the universe is the same One who cares for His people personally.
His power is not distant; it is present and active in our lives. Therefore, whatever storm you may be facing today, remember this: The God who controls the thunder and the waves is the same God who is holding you.
He promises to give you the strength you need and the peace you long for.
You may not always escape the storm, but you will never face it alone.
So, hold on to this promise, trust in His power and rest in His presence.
For the Lord will give strength to His people and the Lord will bless His people with peace.
Today I declare: Receive this strength. Receive this peace. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
