The promise of the Father

HOLY_BIBLE_04_002Bishop Dr B.  Manjoro Dunamis
It’s a good day today. Last week we talked about being the effect of what you say and what you know in life. Words are powerful and so is knowledge. Today we will take a closer look on one person who helps us know the right things and say the right things.

That person is the third member of the Godhead — the Holy Spirit! With Him, the promise of the Father, all things are possible and life can be different. Struggling with a debt? Raising up a child? Being productive in your life? Dying with a disease in your body? Bound by a curse in all you do? Cheer up, the Holy Spirit of God is about to pull you out and lead you to your victory and destiny! He is the promise of the Father sent to stand with you in every circumstance and to be your Helper. You are not alone. Double Portion is yours!

“And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endured with power from on high” Luke 24:49. These were the words of Jesus when he was about to go home, having finished his work. Earlier on Jesus had breathed on the disciples and said to them Receive ye the Holy Spirit. However, this was still the dispensation of the Son and prior to that it was the dispensation of the Father in the Old Testament. However the dispensation of the Spirit was yet to come and this is where Jesus was admonishing his disciples to wait for the coming of the Spirit. The disciples had preached before, healed the sick and cast out devils but this time they were told, No don’t preach, don’t do anything until the Promise of the Father has come. When the promise has come, you shall be endured with power from on high and He shall teach you all things.

How now was he to come? What form, shape and personality? Friends; the first thing that you need so as to walk with the Holy Ghost in your life is a correct and right perception of who Him. The Holy Spirit is not a fire or wind. No! He is a spiritual person. And before he came, they had to wait.

There are things and keys I have discovered in life that attract or repel the Holy Spirit of God. During the time of ascension the Bible records that there were about 500 disciples gathered who heard Jesus speak and promise of the coming of the Holy Ghost. But by the time the Holy Spirit finally came, on the day of Pentecost — only about 120 were still holding on and waiting for the promise. Where had the rest gone? Patience!

Friends to be filled and move greatly with the Holy Spirit you need patience. You need a waiting spirit. Do not be in a hurry in life. In this day and age most things are quick and fast — they are instant. Learn to wait on God. Learn to stand on the Word of God. Because he said it, he will surely do it. He is not a man that he can lie. O hallelujah! Be like the 120 that tarried and held on for the promise of the Father. Have you ever prayed for something and yet it seemed like it was never going to come? Prayed for your husband to be born again, for your promotion at work, for that business door to open, for that tumour and cancer to die in your body and yet nothing seemed to have happened? Friend, be patient. He will answer. God is able! Impatience is a key hindrance to moving with the Holy Ghost. Learn to wait. Wait on God and His promises. Do not waver like the 380 that could not wait till the time the Holy Ghost came in, in the Upper Room.

Another reason he told them to wait is that he wanted them to be united. The Bible says they were all in one accord (Acts 2:1). They developed one heart, one spirit and one goal. Wherever there is unity, God moves mightily. Families, companies, groups and organisations do not achieve much without unity; neither do they attract the blessing, power and favour of the Holy Ghost. When people are united, the Holy Spirit comes mightily. Back-biting each other, gossiping, quarrelling and hatred quenches the fire of the Holy Ghost. It ties Him. When people of the same church, same choir, same group, same company, same office, or same community talk bad about each other, it leaks the anointing of God which empowers them and gives success. Meetings become dry when people talk bad about each other, for the Holy Ghost looks at the heart.

You need a right attitude and spirit to be united and move with the Holy Spirit in your life. Gehazi was one such man in the Bible who did a lot of things but with a wrong heart, until he died a leper due to that wrong heart and spirit, 2 Kings 5:27. Be united, have a good attitude and heart in what you do and about others. Even in your marriage, talk good about each other and you will attract the Holy Spirit and enjoy the life God has for you. Whatever you do don’t let the negativity you think, make you miss the many positive things happening around you. Think right.

Friends understand also that your perception of the Holy Ghost determines a lot in life. If you perceive Him as just a power that helps you pray, you will miss a lot in life. He is more than that. He is a person, a spiritual person who can equip you, fill you and cause you to do what you would naturally not be able to do.

He can cause you to be a success in life. He can take you from the bottom of the ladder, right to the top! He can take your struggling and strained marriage and make it a joy you will thank Him forever. He can take your frail, cancerous, and dying body and revitalise it with power and fresh life. He can take over your financial constrains and bring liberty, freedom and fruitfulness you have never experienced all your life. He can take away the pain of abuse, hurt, torture, rejection and bring you peace, comfort, hope and a future to live for. He can do it. It does not matter how much you are in the mud, No! He can pull you out, clean you up and give you a fresh start! With the Holy Spirit, it’s not over until it’s over. For with God all things are possible, Mark 10:27.
