RISING sungura musician Brian “Murondatsimba” Samaita has finished working on his third album which is expected to hit the streets next week. Samaita, a long-time close buddy of the late Tongai Moyo, last released the album Murodzi wepfungwa early last year which contained the chartbuster Main Actor, a gem that received rave reviews from listeners.
The Chinhoyi-born guitarist has been one of the few Mutare-based artistes who has consistently released albums and stayed afloat in the music industry despite the menacing bug of piracy – a scourge that has led most musicians to lead a sorry life.
He has managed to woo some fans in his four-year-old through his guitar-strumming prowess that reminds many of the late Utakataka Express front man, Tongai “Dhewa” Moyo.
In an interview recently, Samaita said the album, which is yet to be christened, would carry five tracks, Dzinza rake, Sando dzangu, Tinosvika chete, Kabasa and Simon Zuze.
The album tackles social issues affecting people in marriage, workplaces and in relationships. The song Simon Zuze is a dedication to the Murondatsimba’s bona fide fan.
“He used to attend most of our shows even those out of town. He was our number one supporter so we decided to dedicate a song to him. We will forever miss him,” said Samaita.
And, as expected, the musician-cum-businessman penned a controversial song, Sando dzangu, where he takes a swipe at wives and husbands who value church leaders more than God himself.
The potential hit is an advice to people to value their spouses first before hero-worshipping their church leaders.
Tinosvika chete is an inspirational song that urges people to work hard in life and remain resolute to keep intended goals.
