THEY say a picture tells a thousand words and those who came up with this phrase must have had Darrel Makwasha in mind.

The young man, who is also known as the ‘Thigh Warrior,’ is one of the new crop of rugby stars whose arrival on the big scene is making fans dream again.

Makwasha’s dressing room image, proudly holding the Rugby Africa Cup which the Sables won in Uganda on Sunday, is causing quite a stir on social media.

The photograph is a perfect picture of a young professional athlete — strong, muscular and fearless.

Some fans are now saying the Sables deserve to be called the Warriors because they have shown they can win continental silverware.

Makwasha’s image also provides a throwback to some Warriors fans of a time when they had similar strong athletes representing them.

The likes of Mercedes Sibanda, Paul Gundani and Ephraim Chawanda were strong and fearless men who represented their country with pride.

Makwasha, who plays wing, is a product of the Prince Edward Tigers stable and had a stint at the famed Sharks Academy in South Africa when he left school.

He was also a junior bodybuilding champion in 2019.

The ‘Thigh Warrior’ is the toast of social media right now.

Here are some of the comments after his photograph holding the trophy appeared on social media:
