ZIFA Matabeleland North league pacesetters Amagagasi and second placed Makomo clash tomorrow afternoon at Chinotimba Stadium in a blood and thunder encounter which has all the ingredients of a title decider. The two teams have been neck and neck from the early days and their epic duel will electrify the resort town as a huge crowd is expected to throng the venue for the mouth watering clash.
Amagagasi, who are leading the pack with 34 points from 13 games, are still licking their wounds following a shock 5-1 drubbing at the hands of ZRP Hwange last weekend.
On the same day, the coalminers, who are just two points behind Amagagasi, gained a lot of ground by beating Corinthians 3-1 at GVZ Stadium.
The home side’s coach Ndoga Nyoni warned Makomo to be ready for war from his boys who are ready to bounce back from the huge defeat in the past game.
“I worked very hard the whole week to psyche up the boys following the unusual loss to ZRP Hwange and I am happy they are coming up nice and easy. I am warning our opponents to be wary of the backlash by the boys who are recovering from the setback.
“The team is now bubbling with confidence and we will give Makomo a good run for their money as we seek to regain momentum,” said Nyoni.
Makomo head coach Tapela Ngwenya said his charges are geared for the game of their lives.
“The boys are more than ready to fight for the three points which will take us to the top of the table, a position we want to maintain until the end of the season. Without doubt this is a very big game but I am hopeful we can get a good result tomorrow. My chief striker Richard Mwalugale is back from injury and I expect him to bang in the goals,” said Ngwenya.
Others expected to bring glory for Makomo include Lawrence Khumbula, Lovemore Dube, David Bizabani, Lucky Ruzvidzo, Craven Tamirepi and Loyd Chimuchenga.
Amagagasi will bank on players who include their top goal scorer Lungile Nyathi, Godknows Sibanda, Joseph Kuyumani, Petro Nyoni and Mtshumayelo Moyo to silence Makomo who always travel with a band of vocal fans.
