Till operator in trouble

US$7 000.
Soliwe Goreraza (25) has been arraigned before a Harare magistrate, Mr Shane Kubonera, charged with fraud.
Goreraza was, however, not asked to plead to the charge and was granted US$50 bail.
She will be back in court on May 26 for routine remand.
Appearing for the State, Ms Vernancia Mtake alleges that sometime last month, Shepherd Gandanzara (50), a retired army officer, who banks with CABS went to OK Kuwadzana to enquire if his pension had been deposited into his account using Zimswitch.
He was assisted by Goreraza who then informed him that his money was not yet reflecting, it is alleged.
On April 21, Gandanzara learnt that his pension amounting to US$11 345 had been deposited into his account.
The State says that on May 2, Gandanzara sent his 13-year-old son to withdraw US$20 using the Zimswitch card.
The boy entered the pin number and Goreraza asked him to re-enter it for her to memorise it, the State alleged.
After the boy had finished the transaction, Goreraza gave him a different card with the same colour and the boy went away without any suspicion.
The court heard that Goreraza used the card to steal US$80 from Gandanzara’s account.
It is the State’s case that on May 6, Gandanzara sent his daughter, Constance to make a withdrawal and that is when she was told the pin number was incorrect.
It was further discovered that the ZIMSWITCH card she was using did not belong to Gandanzara, the court heard.
A report was made to the branch manager who made some checks and discovered that Gandanzara’s card had been used on numerous occasions, it is alleged.
It was allegedly discovered that US$7 300 had already been withdrawn.
A police report was made and investigations led to Goreraza’s arrest. – CR.
