TINO Kadewere impressed despite Nantes 1-2 defeat at the hands of giants Marseille in a French Ligue 1 match on Sunday.
Kadewere equalised in the 39th minute with a fine left foot shot to cancel out Neal Muapay’s opener.
Then, former Manchester United forward, Mason Greenwood, scored in the second half to hand Nantes a defeat.
The goal was Kadewere’s first for the club since joining on a permanent move.
He told Zimpapers Sport that he wants to continue on this progressive trajectory as he seeks to help his side improve on their log standings.
“Being part of a team means more than just showing up for games and practices,” he said.
“It means being actively involved in the game, always giving your best effort, and supporting your teammates both on and off the field.
“That’s what exactly I have always worked on, to try to make my contributions in every aspect of the game to help the team but for many the question is always on goals.”
Kadewere said he is a fighter and won’t let anything pull him down as he is determined to write his success story.
“When you go through a period of not scoring or not performing well, it can be frustrating and demoralising.
“A lot of challenges always come up, when you think you have settled and gelled with the other players then challenges like injuries come up.
“It drags you back.
“But I have told myself I am a fighter and I won’t back down at whatever cost.”
He added:
“The goal is a confidence-booster, it came at a perfect moment when I needed it, but it now requires more hard work for me to keep contributing positively to the squad.
“Like you see the goal was not enough to earn the team a point so it means there is still a need to work extra hard and try to help the team.
“It is important to understand that your role on the team goes beyond just scoring goals or making big plays. It is about contributing positively in whatever way you can.”
