Tips on blowing dry your hair

HELLO there everyone, hope all is well with you. It is getting warmer during the day. This is the beginning of summer, so start getting ready.Important note

I know I have written extensively on home remedies for acne, blemishes and scars, however, it will be nice to remind readers that home remedies are not for serious conditions.

If you have a serious condition or close to that please get professional assistance. That is why we have doctors.

Home remedies work very well on issues that have just begun or are slight. But if you have acne all over your face or on our shoulders, etc, the best thing you can do is go and get medical assistance.

Your issue might be more serious than just a make-up problem. It could be hormonal or it could be your thyroid, etc. So please, please, do not neglect my advice on this.

Sometimes cheap can be very costly in the end and of course vice versa.

Okay that was just a little housekeeping for my readers there lol.

With that done, let us get on with the business of the day and that is “how to blow dry your hair or weave”.

In line with getting ready for summer, those of you who have been hiding your winter hair under weaves, wigs or braids, it is time to get that beautiful hair out now and relax it or oil it and leave it natural.

People keep asking me how I look after my hair, specifically blow drying it. So today, I will give you my blow dry secrets. Take note that this works for me, but it might not work on everyone.

Also the ladies who ask me blow dry secrets want to know how to do it on a weave. My hair is mine – seriously – so the effect might not be exactly the same. But if your weave is Brazilian, which is pure human hair, then it should work and it should look even better on a Brazilian weave than on my own hair. Another thing is I do not blow dry my hair often. I prefer to allow it to dry naturally in the sun.

Once dry, I then oil it and twist it overnight. But once a month I flat iron my hair to give it that straight smooth look, or I blow dry it when I want it to have nice big curls or if I want it to look thick.

So here we go with my blow dry method.

First, I towel dry my hair. Then I apply whatever I need to set the style. I usually use mousse or serum depending on whether I want my hair straight or curly. I then bend over letting my hair hang over my head to the ground.

I use a round bristle blow dry brush, going from the root to the end of my hair. Brushing the hair from the root down makes it look thicker.

If I want the hair straight, I keep blow drying straight until it is dry. Once I’m done I spray it with oil or hair spray and that’s it – I’m done. This takes anything between 30-45 minutes depending on the hair length.

On special occasions, and if I want it curly I follow the same process, but when it starts getting dry and the knots are out, I start the curl.

I roll small sections of hair at a time around the brush and blast with my hair dryer. I am very careful with the longer portions of my hair because they can tangle on the brush. Patience is necessary.

I always keep my nozzle on the end of the dryer so that the air is concentrated. I roll the hair sections away from my face so that I can get nice bouncy curls. When I think the curled area is dry, I hold the brush in place until the hair cools down (a few seconds), then I unravel the brush gently. I then roll the curl back up with my finger and secure it in place with a clip or a grip.

I do this to the rest of my hair, section by section, little by little. I usually start at the front moving backwards. Once I’m done, I usually let the hair sit for a few minutes after complete blow dry, then I gently take each grip out one at a time. I do not brush the curls out, I simply use my fingers to tease out my hair. For my hair type hairspray is an essential if I want the curls to stay for hours. But too much hairspray on any hair type can dry.

Just the same with too much blow drying. Blow drying when used too much can cause split ends and dry brittle hair.

Always remember that the more oil you put in your hair, the less curls you will have. Also the less oil you put in your hair, the thicker it will look. So when I want my hair straight, which is my normal hairstyle, I put lots of oil to keep it moist and healthy looking. But when I’m going partying, I put less oil and out comes the tongs or hair dryer for curls.

And that is my secret to bouncy curly hair.

Tip of the Week

Fake hair should not be a permanent feature on your head, it is meant to be temporary. Your hair needs to get some sun to survive. Like seriously!
