AT an age when many young people are still figuring out their interests, AMR Convent High School learner and Lupane Junior Council deputy mayor Tinashe Moyo is already making waves in the digital space, attracting more than 25 000 TikTok followers within just one month of creating content.
The aspiring content creator, who boasts 25 200 followers on the platform, has built a growing audience through humorous yet educational videos centred on African parenting and family values.
“I started creating content on TikTok about a month ago and the response has been overwhelming. In such a short period, I have managed to grow my account to more than 25 000 followers, which motivates me to keep going and produce even more content,” he said.
Moyo said his content focuses on everyday experiences in African households, using humour to communicate important lessons to young people.

“I create content about African parenting because it is something that many people can relate to. My aim is to educate the younger generation about what is expected of them by their parents and elders. At the same time, I want to remind young people who may have lost their way about the values and discipline that are important in life. I use humour because people learn better when they are entertained”.
One of his most successful videos revolves around a common household item.
“The video that received the most likes is the one about tissue paper. I think many people related to it because in most African homes, parents often complain about how quickly tissue paper gets finished. It is a situation that almost everyone has experienced, so viewers found it funny and realistic,” he said.
Despite the popularity of the tissue video, Moyo said his personal favourite is one that touches on boarding school life.
“My favourite video is the one about boarding school groceries. It is special to me because it reminds me of my friends and former schoolmates who are away at school. Even if they did not see the video immediately, I know that when they eventually come across it, they will know that I still remember them and appreciate the experiences we shared together”.
Moyo said watching his followers and engagement grow has become a major source of motivation.
“What inspires me the most is seeing the numbers increase every day. When I see more followers, more likes and more people engaging with my content, it encourages me to continue creating. Sometimes I even feel motivated to wake up late at night to record new videos because I enjoy the process and the response from viewers,” he said.
Although his account has grown rapidly, Moyo said he still faces challenges, particularly the lack of content creation equipment.
“One of the biggest challenges is that I do not have some of the accessories that could improve the quality of my content, such as a microphone or a ring light. Having access to such equipment would help me produce better videos and grow even further”.
He expressed gratitude for the support he has received from friends, family and members of the community.
“My family, friends and community have been very supportive. Their encouragement gives me confidence and makes me believe that I can achieve even greater things in the future,” he said.
Looking ahead, Moyo has ambitious goals for his career in content creation.
“I see myself becoming one of the biggest content creators in Zimbabwe and even globally. I also believe that one day I will win a NAMA award. It is something I am working towards, and I believe it is only a matter of time before I achieve it,” he said.
