dancehall music wonder kid Obey Makamure, affectionately known as Tocky Vibes, has a point to prove when he performs at Mutare Motoring Club tonight (Friday). No doubt Tocky is the genre’s current hottest property alongside Soul Jah Love, Seh Calaz, Shinsoman and Sniper. What makes Tocky a cut above the rest is his lyrical ingenuity. He has been in the spotlight since venturing into music a few years ago for singing positive and inspiring messages unlike his contemporaries in Zimbabwean dancehall.
This has made him a darling of many.
Some of his finest songs include Amai, Vakatisiya, Ayenda nenyika.
Mutare Motoring Club secretary Lovemore Chitima confirmed the show and said all was in place to host one of dancehall’s finest talents. The venue has hosted several musicians such as Oliver Mtukudzi, I-Finton and Sulumani Chimbetu, among an array of prominent musicians.
“We are proud to host such an artiste. Dancehall is an established genre that has many followers and we are looking forward to date hundreds of Tocky Vibes’ fans across the province,” Chitima said.
Tocky is expected to come on stage at 8pm.
