CHICKEN Inn secretary-general Tavengwa Hara has with immediate effect been appointed to the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa), Legal and Statutes Committee, Zimpapers Sports Hub can reveal.

The Legal and Statutes Committee plays a critical role in ensuring that Cosafa’s regulations align with international best practices while safeguarding the integrity and legal framework of Cosafa competitions and operations.

In a letter addressed to Hara, Cosafa executive director Susan Destombes wrote: On behalf of the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa), I am pleased to formally notify you of your appointment to the Cosafa Legal and Statutes Committee. Your expertise and dedication to football governance make you an invaluable addition to this important body. We are confident that your experience and insight will contribute significantly to the committee’s work and Cosafa’s broader objectives.”

Destombes added: “Your term of appointment will commence immediately, and further details regarding meetings and responsibilities will be communicated in due course. We look forward to your contributions and collaboration with fellow committee members in advancing Cosafa’s mission.”

Hara, a top Bulawayo lawyer with over 20 years’ experience in football administration, said he has since accepted his appointment.

“I have taken up the challenge. I have worked on football statutes locally and I think I’m ready to work on the regional challenge that will see me working on the regional football statues,” said Hara, a SuperSport trained football administrator.

Hara’s first meeting with other members of the Cofasa Legal and Statutes Committee will be virtually held tomorrow afternoon.

The Rusape-born Hara assumes the role after having worked on the 2013 Zifa Constitution and the present Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) statutes, rules and regulations.

With his extensive experience in football administration, having served as secretary-general for Njube Sundowns and Chicken Inn, Hara is well-equipped to drive positive change.
