AN attempt to swim by three minors at Chipita Farm in Chipinge resulted in one of them drowning in a dam.
Blessing Ndlovu (4) left home in the company of two other four-year-old boys and went swimming in Tingamira Dam, without the knowledge of any of their parents or guardians on August 14.

The names of the other two boys were withheld.

Deputy Manicaland provincial spokesperson Assistant Inspector Muzondiwa Clean confirmed the incident.

“On August 14 at Chipita Farm, Blessing Ndlovu and two other boys left the farm and went swimming in Tingamira Dam.

“Blessing was the first to jump into the water and the other two suddenly noticed he had drowned. The two boys rushed and told Blessing’s father, Douglas Ndlovu (31), who was helped by neighbours to retrieve the body soon after they heard the message.

“The four-year-old boy was rushed to a nearby clinic, but was pronounced dead on arrival.  A police report was made,” he said.

Asst Insp Clean urged parents to keep an eye on their children.
