TRAIN HORROR! Mystery man crushed to death- Police in frantic hunt to ID young victim

B-Metro Reporter

A MYSTERIOUS and grisly discovery along the city’s railway line has left residents stunned after a young man was found dead with both legs crushed by a train in a suspected tragic accident – or something more sinister.

The shocking incident occurred on the morning of Saturday, 24 May, when a 37-year-old train driver from Pelandaba West stumbled upon the gruesome scene just 300 metres from the NRZ Diesel Shed gate.
“I saw two pairs of white and black shoes on the tracks and immediately stopped the train,” said the shaken train driver, who had been heading to Bulawayo Main Station. “When I checked, there was a man lying beside the tracks. Both his legs were completely crushed. I knew he was gone.”

The unidentified man, believed to be between 20 and 25 years old, was wearing a black jacket, green sweater, green T-shirt, and grey jeans with a black belt. His light complexion and youthful build suggest he may have recently arrived in the city or been living rough.

Police have not ruled out foul play but are treating the case as a sudden death for now.
“We are appealing to members of the public with a missing relative who matches the description to come forward,” said Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, the provincial police spokesperson. “The body was taken to United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) for a post-mortem.”

As police launch a frantic bid to identify the deceased, the mystery deepens.

If you have any information, contact your nearest police station or visit UBH.
