Transport Ministry holds corporate governance oversight meeting in Bulawayo

THE Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development is today holding its Ninth Session of the Line Minister’s Public Entities Corporate Governance Oversight Meeting in Bulawayo, bringing together boards and management of entities under the ministry to review performance and strengthen accountability.

The meeting, being held at a local hotel, is convened in terms of Sections 31(2)(a) and 33(4) of the Public Entities Corporate Governance Act (Chapter 10:31) and the Second Schedule to the Act.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Felix Mhona, is expected to preside over the meeting, which forms part of the Government’s efforts to enhance transparency, accountability and good corporate governance across public entities.

The oversight meeting provides a platform for the ministry to assess the performance of its entities, review compliance with governance requirements and ensure alignment with national development priorities under Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).

Senior Government officials, board chairpersons, chief executive officers and other stakeholders from the ministry’s public entities are expected to attend the meeting.

The session is also anticipated to focus on key issues affecting the transport sector, including infrastructure development, service delivery, financial sustainability and the implementation of strategic projects aimed at supporting economic growth and regional integration.
