Bulawayo is drowning in dirt!
The city is battling a serious shortage of dustbins, sparking a litter nightmare in both residential and business areas. And now, Mayor David Coltart is sounding the alarm — calling on companies to step in before the city turns into a giant dumping ground.
During a heated full council meeting, Clr Coltart didn’t mince his words: “We need more bins, urgently!” he told fellow councillors, as concerns over poor waste management mounted.
In a desperate bid to clean up the city, Coltart is appealing to the private sector to donate dustbins — and not just imported ones. The Mayor is pushing for local production, saying this move could kill two birds with one stone: tackle litter and create jobs for unemployed youth.
But the stink doesn’t stop there.
Coltart also raised the red flag over the city’s growing mountain of plastic waste, warning that without action, the problem could spiral out of control.
Is Bulawayo on the brink of a garbage disaster?
Only time — and bins — will tell.
