Trench collapses, killing man

trench collapsed on him while his five workmates escaped with severe injuries.
The incident occurred at around 5:30 pm at Zidlabusuku Village in Esigodini.
Acting police spokesman for Matabeleland South Sergeant Thabani Mukwananzi confirmed the incident.
He said police were investigating the accident.
Sgt Mukwananzi said Charles Moyo’s body was taken to Esigodini Hospital mortuary while the injured were rushed to Mtshabezi Hospital.
Their condition was reported to be critical.
“Preliminary investigations reveal that the deceased was working on a five metre dip pipeline trench.
“However, the trench walls collapsed and buried the six workers.
“They were rescued by their colleagues who heard them screaming for help. Five were rescued but Moyo had already died.”
The incident comes a week after a gold panner was killed when walls of a disused mine shaft he had been working on collapsed on him.
