THREE suspects accused of causing the death of a colleague after giving him a poisoned drink appeared in court yesterday.

Shelly Nyengeterai Munyaka (30), Josphat Joseph Munyaka (42) and Innocent Nyoni (28) were arraigned before Harare magistrate Ms Ruth Moyo facing murder and theft charges. They were remanded in custody, with their bail hearing set for today.

Prosecutor Ms Nomsa Kangara told the court that on April 24, at around 4am, the accused allegedly caused the death of Tendayi Mhishi by giving him a poisoned beverage.

The incident occurred at the corner of Blackstone Avenue and Fife Avenue in Harare. The prosecution alleges that the suspects intended to kill Mhishi or acted with reckless disregard for the possibility that their actions could result in his death.

In addition to the murder charge, the three are also accused of theft.

According to the second charge, the complainant, Sibongile Tsitsi, alleged that the suspects stole two cellphones  valued US$120 that were in a vehicle.
