THREE brothers from Muneri Village were hauled before the courts for murdering their cousin.
Appearing before senior Mutare magistrate, Mrs Sekai Chiundura, Simon Chibato (40), Evison Chibato (25) and Timothy Chibato (36) pleaded guilty to the murder charges.

Mr Donald Mudadirwa prosecuted.

The court heard that on February 5, the brothers teamed up and went to Josephat Chibato’s house, accusing him of hiring prophets and traditional healers to cast evil spirits at their home.

An argument ensued between the parties, resulting in the brothers teaming up to assault Josephat.

The brothers used sticks to assault Josephat who could not defend himself because he was outnumbered.

Other villagers came to Josephat’s rescue, but he had been seriously injured.

Josephat was rushed to hospital where he died upon admission.

Mrs Chiundura advised the trio to apply for bail at the High Court because they were facing a serious offence.
