ZIFA Southern Region Division One newcomers Trumus FC face a tough test against defending champions Plumtree Chiefs in a league encounter in Victoria Falls tomorrow. The resort town outfit is bubbling with confidence after introducing themselves with a 3-1 thumping of New West City in their opening encounter.
Plumtree Chiefs picked up from where they left last season with a 1-0 win over Hwange Juniors in their last encounter.
Trumus will be hoping to make their presence felt with a spirited performance against depleted Chiefs who are now a development side with a good number of their players having joined Bantu Rovers.
The Thulani Sibanda-coached outfit lost captain Lindelani “Vice” Ncube, Pride Zereni, Toto Banda and George Majika.
Sibanda said the encounter against Trumus is going to be a tricky one.
“Obvious it will be a tough game for us, Trumus are a good side especially when playing at home, we will do what we can,” said the two times championship winning coach with Quelaton and Chiefs.
Sibanda said this season they are not under any pressure to deliver the title as they are a development side.
“We are not playing for the championship, so we are not under any pressure, our aim is to give these boys a chance to prove themselves,” he said.
Highlanders former goalscoring sensation Gift Lunga’s son Ray, Brendon Moyo, Mayibongwe Moyo and Pride Ndlovu will be the players Chiefs are pinning their hopes on.
In other matches, Agent Sawu’s Ntabazinduna will play host to newcomers Pretoria Portland Cement hoping to continue their fine start which saw them beat Black Boots 2-1 in their opening encounter.
