Tshuma named UNWTO envoy

“I feel humbled that there is an international body that realises and appreciates my efforts and through entrust me with such an honour. This is the beginning of a new era, one that I am proud to be part of,” she said.

According to a document from the tourism ministry, the brand ambassadors were selected are worthy of representing a global event such as the UNWTO indaba.
“UNWTO brand ambassadors are individuals that are already a well-known brand, as a result their achievements and/or contribution to the nation. Therefore, it is with great pride that we bestow this honour on you to represent your country,” the statement said.

Some of the things that the UNWTO brand ambassadors are expected to do include promoting and creating awareness of the UNWTO through their circle of influence, colleagues, clients, partners and people they interact with.

They are also expected to provide information about the UNWTO and to elevate the image of the UNWTO brand in the minds of the public and corporates.
Brand ambassadors will also be expected to attend events, feature in advertising campaigns as well as demonstrate an active commitment to promoting UNWTO. With her experience as a beauty queen has been through the mill and know exactly how to execute her duties.

Since she landed the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe crown in 2010, Samantha did exceptionally well during her reign and represented the country well when she took part at the Miss World pageant held in Sanya, China.

Besides the exposure at the Miss World, Samantha also received a personalised cushion with her face and some remarks printed on it.
