The two sides clash in a Pro50 One-Day game this morning and tomorrow they lock horns in the Twenty20. Both sides opened their 2012 season campaigns on losing streaks with Tuskers losing by seven wickets in the Pro50 One-Day game and going down by five runs in the Twenty20 against Manicaland Mountaineers while Rocks were beaten by three wickets with a ball to spare by MidWest Rhinos in the Tweny20. Rocks had lost the One-Day match by 100 runs to MidWest Rhinos.
“I think against Mountaineers we should have won with a bit of luck but we lost concentration and we were punished. We have a good side and if we avoid making unnecessary mistakes and do the right things, we are going to win.
“I am sure the guys are going to do much better against Rocks because they have been working hard under Wayne James in the absence of Heath Streak,” said Staddon.
Former Milton High School coach Pollock Mubhobho is Tuskers’ assistant coach.
Tuskers will pin their hopes on Craig Ervine who hit a half century against Mountaineers, hard-hitting Charles Coventry, Brian Chari and Terrence Duffin to lead their batting attack while spinner John Nyumbu, seamers Christopher Mpofu, Glen Querl and Njabulo Ncube are expected to lead their bowling attack.
