Two arrested for attempted murder

Paidamoyo Bore
TWO people have been arrested on allegations of brutally assaulting a man who was demanding the settlement of a debt.

Chamunorwa Maungira, 34, and Arnold Gore, 26, appeared before Harare magistrate Sandra Mupindu, charged with attempted murder.

They were remanded in custody to August 17.

The duo was advised to approach the High Court for bail application.

Allegations are that on July 23 at around 5pm, the complainant approached the accused asking for his money.

It is alleged that Maungira and Mupindu asked the complainant to follow them out of the shop they were in and he obliged.

As soon as the complainant got outside, one of the accused struck him on the left hand with a shovel.

He started shooting the complainant with a catapult, and also struck him on the head with a brick.

The complainant sustained a fractured hand and injuries on the head.

Maungira and Mupindu are self-employed at Beta Compound in Mt Hampden.

Nancy Chandakaona appeared for the State.
