IN a shocking turn of events, a married woman and a married man’s seemingly perfect lives shattered into pieces after their seven-year extramarital affair was exposed.
The illicit relationship, carried on behind the backs of their unsuspecting spouses, led to the collapse of two marriages.
Precious Ncube who has been married for 25 years was allegedly two-timing her husband with William Gwabi for seven years.
The two’s shenanigans were laid bare at the Bulawayo Civil Court where Ncube sought a protection order against Gwabi, claiming that whenever she tried to end the illicit affair, Gwabi threatened to expose her to her husband.
She said she had to endure the unsanctioned love affair for seven years.
“When our secret love was three years old, I told Gwabi that we had to terminate the affair. After that, he fumed at me, threatening to expose me to my husband. Due to that, I had to endure and continue with him as I wanted to protect my marriage,” she said.
Despite her efforts to protect their illicit affair, Gwabi sprung a shocker and informed Ncube’s relatives that he was in love with her.
“After that, she questioned my behaviour and branded me a prostitute and a Satanist who lied to him,” she said.
Ncube said that after that, her husband got wind that she was two-timing him and called Gwabi.
“Gwabi came home and apologized to my husband, but after that, he told me to buy a new phone line, which I did.
“After that, he sent me a text message. Unfortunately, my husband stumbled on the message when he was using my phone. After that, he fumed at me and told me that he no longer loved me, leading to the collapse of our marriage,” she said.
Ncube ended the relationship with Gwabi, but he refuses to accept it and still persists in his love for her. She said he often invites her to his office and demands sex.
“He would demand sex. He bashes me when I refuse to have sex with him,” she said.
Gwabi took to the stand and said: “The truth is not in her, Your Worship, and she is lying. This woman caused the collapse of my marriage. She used to send WhatsApp messages to my wife, insulting her and telling her that she was in love with me.
“Due to that, I would quarrel with my wife, and in the end, she deserted me. I had to marry another woman, but still, she is in the habit of sending her text messages, insulting her, and as a result, there is no peace at home.”
He added: “When we fell in love, she told me that she was not married and that she stayed with her uncle. She told me not to visit her. But later on, I gathered that she lied to me, as she was married.
“When her husband found out about our affair, he called me to his home, and I apologised.”
Gwabi feels he was used and wants all the money he spent on her back.
“I spent a lot of money on her and sponsored her education. I would do everything for her. Your Worship, I demand that she pays me back my money. I feel I was used,” Gwabi said angrily.
The presiding magistrate, Shepherd Mnjanja, granted Ncube a peace order. Gwabi was prevented from physically and verbally abusing Ncube.
He was also ordered to maintain peace towards her. The order is valid for five years.
