TWO men have been arrested in connection with the theft of a motorcycle belonging to a security company in Musheyekwa Village, Chipinge.
The incident occurred on August 25 at around 7pm.
Acting Manicaland police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the arrests and identified the suspects as Brian Komichiana (24) and Farai Mangwaya (28).
Assistant Inspector Chinyoka said the stolen SKM bike was taken from the homestead of Blessing Nyamutsitsa (27), a security guard.
“After work, Nyamutsitsa parked the motorcycle outside his house, and secured the wheel with handcuffs, before retiring for the night. The following morning, he discovered the bike missing and promptly reported the theft to ZRP Chipinge Urban,” he said.
Assistant Inspector Chinyoka said a tracker installed on the bike led authorities to Mangwaya’s homestead in Musheyekwa village.
Police intelligence operatives, accompanied by Nyamutsitsa, recovered the motorcycle and apprehended the suspects.
Mangwaya implicated Komichiana as his accomplice.
During the recovery operation, police also discovered a blue Lifan motorbike, which the suspects failed to produce ownership documents for.
The bike was also seized and is currently being held at ZRP Chipinge Urban.
Both suspects have prior convictions for unlawful entry in Chipinge.
The recovered motorcycle is valued at US$1 000.
