Unlawful entry lands trio in court

THREE men have been arrested on allegations of theft from a shop after gaining entry using duplicate keys.

Craig Chihota, 20, Munyaradzi Mupakati, 25, and Charles Zivanai, 33, appeared before Harare magistrate,Yeukai Dzuda, charged with unlawful entry.

They will be back in court today for bail hearing.

Lovemore Mangwende, who runs a shop at Bizerk Building, along Kaguvi Street, is the complainant in the matter.

Allegations are that on July 25, the trio unlawfully entered the Mangwende’s shop, using duplicate keys and stole a decoder, fuel, oil filters, men’s trousers and 48 chocolate bars.

The trio were positively identified by witnesses.

One of the accused was found wearing shoes stolen from the shop. In court, one of the accused said the keys they used were not duplicates, but belonged to one of the employees.

The trio claimed they were heavily assaulted by the police who forced them to give a lead to other crime scenes.

The value of the stolen property is US$2 500 and only US$500 was recovered.
