Unless He opens your eyes, you cannot see

Looking at the Unseen
LUKE 24:31-32
And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. [32] And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
The two men who were going to Emmaus were oblivious of Who He was when he joined them on the way. They were despondent. Yet, the one they were talking and despondent about was walking with them. Jesus was walking with the broken-hearted, yet they did not know it.
The Bible said their eyes were held so that they could not see him. You can look at a thing and not see it. You can hear, but not understand.
He explained the whole thing down to them, and laid it down to them. And still they never recognised it, after laying the scripture out just as perfect as it could be.
His disciples did not recognise Him. He was the scripture fulfilled, standing there, and still they didn’t get it.
He was declaring to them, and standing right there in His Person, and still, they never recognise it. They were disciples. They were men who had done great sacrifice. They were men who loved Him. They were men who were trained by Him. After He told them these things, saying this thing would happen, and here it had happened, and, standing right with Him after His resurrection, they did not recognise Him.
You say: “Could we do a thing like that?”
It is possible we could do that.
We can see what He promised in His Word, coming to pass just as He said, and still, we walk over it. People can get so discouraged that their situation makes them forget the existence of God, or His Scriptures. It is very easy to be positive when things are right, but not when things go bad,
John the Baptist, who had introduced Jesus as the lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world, was in prison one day. While in prison, he got so discouraged. He sent his two disciples to Jesus to ask Him if He was the One they were waiting for or they should look for another.
His situation made him doubt the very Christ he had introduced. He had said Jesus was to baptise them with fire. He had said he was not worthy to lose the thongs of His sandals. But here was in prison. He questioned his own testimony.
You can only perceive as much as He allows you to perceive.
He holds the key to understanding.
Luke 24:16KJV says: “[16] But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.”
No matter how they would have wanted to know Him, they could not because their eyes were held so that they would not know Him.
That is the same thing today.
You can read a scripture, but the hidden meaning will be held from you. Revelation of the mysteries of God is given to those who are like little children who are willing to learn. He has hidden the deep things of the Word from the wise and prudent.
The Bible condenses its truths.
You can stare at a scripture and not understand its hidden spiritual meaning. That is why we have all sorts of interpretations and conclusions on the same scripture. They hear but do not understand and see but not perceive.
Isaiah 6:9 says: “And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.”
Matthew 13:13-14 confirms that by saying: “Therefore, speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. [14] And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive.”
It takes God to open our eyes of understanding.
Ephesians 1:17-18 KJV: “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: [18] The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.” The spirit of wisdom and revelation comes from God. The enlightenment of eyes of understanding comes from God. Unless He opens your eyes, you will now know Him.
We may be able to read the scripture, but may not have our eyes opened to the meaning of the scripture.
We must pray for revelation.
