HARARE CITY coach Taurai Mangwiro blasted the “unplayable” Lafarge pitch after his star studded side were held to a second consecutive nil-all draw by a revived Flame Lily in Mabvuku yesterday.

The Sunshine Boys last week played out a goalless draw with Caps United.

Mangwiro becomes the second top flight coach to condemn Lafarge Stadium after Triangle’s Zambian gaffer Kelvin Kaindu launched his own scathing attack in week six of PSL action after his side fell 0-1 to Flame Lily.

Pre-season title contenders City have now registered seven draws at the end of the first half of the league campaign.

But Mangwiro, whose reign at City has been topsy-turvy thus far, insists his charges did a decent job during the the first half of the season.

“It was a very difficult game for us. The pitch was virtually unplayable and I would like to believe a draw was the fairest result.

“We had too many draws in the first half, but the boys did a decent job in the first stanza of the season and as I have always maintained, it is still work in progress,” said Mangwiro.

Harare City faced a spirited Flame Lily who have been rejuvenated by the arrival of new coach Backfield Chiwenga, and have now gone three matches without tasting defeat.

Chiwenga replaced Nesbert “Yabo” Saruchera who managed a paltry nine out of a possible 36 points during his tenure.

“Every coach has his own methods. So far the boys are responding well to my tactics and I must commend them for working hard. Today (yesterday), we faced a difficult side but we were up to the task and could have won the game with a bit of luck,” said Chiwenga whose side moved a place up to 14th.
